Charges deducted from my account without fulfilling orderOpen
I had ordered the Careem box service for a package delivery to Sharjah. The order was accepted and 70 aed was taken from my account. I was given the details of the rider and the tracker on the Careem app. 5 mins after I get a call from Careem informing me that they do not deliver to Sharjah and the order had been cancelled and I will be charged 13.6 aed for cancellation and my money would be returned in 7 working days. I was shocked because firstly they accepted the order even though the address clearly stated Sharjah. Secondly while I was on the other phone the rider reached my apartment to pick up the package and both of us had not been informed of the cancellation. Thirdly the sales rep is informing me of cancellation charges when I didn’t even cancel the order. This is completely unacceptable and has caused me a lot of mental distress at 12:15 in the night. The package had to be urgently delivered because my friend had a 5:00 flight. Serious action needs to be taken so that such incidences are not repeated in the future. In a city like dubai where consumer laws are extremely strict it was shocking to experience such distress from a company like Careem
